TRL 3 company planning to offer energy flexibility services through wastewater electrolysis, creating green hydrogen as a by-product.

About

At Rubbish Energy, we are looking to positively affect the world by creating solutions to problems using waste products. We are developing a product called 24 Hour Zero Carbon Power, which is a wastewater electrolysis plant that will enable energy flexibility services. We will be able to provide these services at scale, to the Water Sector, and to the Power Grid. The by-product of the services will be Green Hydrogen, which we will then use to create green energy, green fuel, or green chemicals.

Key Benefits

Energy Flexibility Services will create a reliable way to effectively deal with the excess renewable energy generated. Utilising wastewater in this process to create and store hydrogen will effectively create grid scale storage. It also means that the process can continue to be effectively used, even in times of drought, as wastewater would not be subject to the same restrictions. Our services will effectively treat wastewater in the latter stages of the wastewater treatment cycle, saving energy and helping Water companies reach Net Zero.It is plausible that our services could be used as a cornerstone for micro-grids in more rural parts of the world, where there is an abundance of renewable power, but no way to effectively store it.

Applications

Power Grid: Energy Flexibility Services, Power to Gas, Hydrogen to PowerWater Companies: Wastewater Treatment, Net Zero servicesMicro-grid facilitators: As a cornerstone piece of equipment for levelling out variability in a renewable heavy micro-grid set up.
