Sustainably sourced ExpandOS competes on price, protection, automation, and consumer appeal

Certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, ExpandOS protective packaging is currently in use at Gulfstream Aerospace, Cummins Diesel, Epson USA, Heath Ceramics, and many more companies that wanted to eliminate single-use plastics from their packaging lines.

The process begins on a proprietary manufacturing line in Ohio, where Transformation Packaging LLC, the company behind ExpandOS, punches and die cuts the paper and then fan folds it into bundles that get packed onto pallets weighing about 1,000 pounds. The bundles of paper are then shipped to customers who use specially designed "Expanders" to expand the paper from flat, two dimensional sheets to three dimensional pyramids with serrated edges. When dropped into a box, the ExpandOS interlock to protect fragile items from moving or being damaged by impact.

To demonstrate the efficacy of the product, Transformation Packaging will ship prospective customers a small box that contains two light bulbs, two coffee mugs, and a BRICK.

This animation demonstrates how ExpandOS surround the object being protected and keep it in place while protecting it from impact and pressure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8O0FMCACnw

And this video, made by an enthusiastic senior executive at Ernest Packaging, makes a compelling case for using ExpandOS instead of single use plastics: https://vimeo.com/830360281/f19020e686
