This new system promises a hassle-free experience, offering a single-entry short-term visa valid for up to 90 days.

Visa Application Process:


  • Application Initiation: Visit the official Japan Visa Application Centre website at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/jpn/.
  • Document Preparation: Select "Temporary Visitor Visa," download and complete the application form, ensuring all details are accurate. Prepare photocopies of required documents.
  • Appointment Booking: Schedule an appointment at the Visa Application Centre and receive a confirmation email with your appointment details.
  • Submission: Present your completed application form at the centre during your appointment. Track your visa status online using the reference number from your receipt.
  • Electronic Visa Issuance: Successful applicants will receive an electronic visa instead of a sticker. At the airport, display the "visa issuance notice" on your mobile device during check-in.


Documents Required:


  • Valid Passport: Must have at least six months validity beyond the intended stay in Japan.
  • Recent Passport-Sized Photograph: Taken within the last six months, with a plain background.
  • Invitation Letter: Required if visiting friends or family in Japan.
  • Proof of Confirmed Travel Dates: Including air tickets.
  • Evidence of Sufficient Funds: To cover expenses during the stay in Japan.
  • Proof of Accommodation: Details of where you will be staying in Japan.
  • Travel Requisition from Employer: If the trip is sponsored by the employer.

Costs for Japan Tourist Visa Application:


1. Embassy Government Fees: Approximately US$42 or Rs. 3500 for Indian nationals.

2. Application Fee: Rs. 550 for both Single and Multiple entries.

3. Service Charge (via agencies like VFS Global): Rs. 650 (inclusive of all taxes).
