CarbonCapt technology is ready to roll up.

At the end of March, 2019 the industrial tests of CARBONCAPT unit, an innovative plant, designated for Carbon Capture and projects at cement and steel plants, biogas plants and coal-fired power stations, incinerators or similar had been finished. The unit was designed and manufactured by Landsborg Group, based on the latest achievements in CCU technologies. It features low operation and maintenance costs, low energy consumption and very fast ROI.

Within the recent 40 years the Carbon Capture and Utilization - CCU or Storage - CCS technologies have been actively implemented, modified and improved. Different concepts, i.e. Pre Combustion Capture, Post Combustion Capture, Oxi Fuel, PSA adsorption and others have been and still are verified in different parts of the globe. The economic benchmarking have shown, that the amine-based chemical Carbon Capture process dozens of times have proved to be the most commercially viable option for the upcoming 15-20 years. And if we are intended to capture thousands of millions ton of CO2 per annum globally by the 2050th, we have to start worldwide implementation of the amine-based absorption technologies as soon as possible.

The amine-based chemical absorption process implies the drip irrigation of flue gases coming upwards from the bottom of absorbing column by the liquid absorbing solvent, which comes downwards, thus the saturation of absorbing solvent with the CO2 is taking place. This part of the process features low temperature of the absorbing solvent and relatively high pressure inside the absorbing column. The next stage is as follows: the temperature of saturated absorbing solvent goes up and the pressure goes down in the desorbing column, thus the freeing of the chemically captured CO2 is taking place, now it could be drawn to liquefaction station for further compression and cooling.

Exactly this concept was taken by Landsborg Group engineers as a basis for design and production and finally was realized and successfully tested at CARBONCAPT pilot plant.

The tests of CARBONCAPT pilot plant had been held within the period of July, 2018 - March, 2019 and took about 3000 hours, when about 600 tn of carbon dioxide was captured and compressed. As a source of flue gases CarbOilex pyrolysis reactor was used. The CarbOilex reactor was designed and produced in 2017 for end-of-life-tires processing. The chemical composition of flue gases of the pyrolysis process is more or less similar to that in biogas and cement industries, that is why we decided to use the pyrolysis flue gases for the pilot plant operation, with fine tuning and subsequent scaling up of a CARBONCAPT unit for full scale introduction to CO2 intensive industries.

At present we have at hand the full set of project calculations (basic design, production, transportation, erection, commissioning costs) as well as well-proven and patent pending absorbing solvent FLEXOL-CARBOSTRIP and we are interested in cooperation with a company from CO2 intensive industry, who will soon face the Carbon Tax due payment obligation, or maybe would like to increase its revenues by, i.e. upgrading the produced biogas to pure CH4, which is capable to be injected into gas supply system through the Carbon Capture and Utilization project execution.
